Services for Flora Magalene Perritte (September 23, 1920- June 13, 2025) will be held at 2 pm at Calvary Baptist Church of Nacogdoches, Texas with Rev. Paul Sever, Jeff Perritte and Joel Perritte officiating. Visitation will be at 1 pm. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are with Cason Monk Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Perritte was born to Flora Estell Sweetzer Bridwell and Thomas Aden Bridwell. She was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches other than during World War II when she worked in the shipyard in Orange, TX. She graduated from the Stephen F. Austin Demonstration School in 1939. She married Taylor Perritte in 1941 and they had two sons, Ralph Taylor and Jerry Lynn Perritte. After Jerry started school she began working at JC Penny. Later she worked at Cason Monk Hardware Store. She especially enjoyed the gift section and made several trips to Chicago to purchase gifts for the store. After several years Cason Monk transferred her to their furniture store where she worked until her retirement at 65 years old.
Mrs. Perritte was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches and faithfully attended services until her health prevented her from doing so. She was a member of the Joyful Sound Senior Choir until she was 95 years old. The senior group formerly named Golden Agers was very important to her. She cooked many times for their monthly meetings as well as providing meals for her shut-in friends.
Mrs. Perritte lived through the Great Depression which influenced her to be extremely frugal her entire life. After her daddy died with cancer in the summer of 1940 her and her family had to begin harvesting a crop planted with borrowed money. After they paid the bank note, little money was left over.
Some of her most beloved qualities were visiting and talking with friends. She loved people and talking on the telephone. She especially loved visiting and talking with her family and her extended family. She also loved to play 42. She and her sister were convinced that sitting east/west gave them more wins. Another favorite was cooking; especially for her family. She observed all holidays and spent a great amount of time cooking on these holidays.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sons Ralph and Jerry, her brothers Olan Ray Bridwell and Roe Bridwell, her sisters Gladys Bridwell Veal, Clara May Bridwell Day and Lora Lucille Bridwell.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter-in-law Jean Perritte Austin; sister Mildred Bridwell Hickey; granddaughter Jennifer Perritte Tosh (Michael); grandsons Joel Perritte (Kari), Jeff Perritte (Katy), Jody Perritte (Angie). Eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive her as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
