

Mrs. Talley was born February 3, 1929, in Troup, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Nacogdoches, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Ray “Bill” Talley Sr.; and her daughter, Rebecca Talley Lallier.
She is survived by her sons, Merlin Ray “Bill” Talley Jr. and Mark R. Talley; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Freda Toole Jones of Garland, Texas.
Mrs. Talley was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a friend to all who were fortunate enough to have known her. This short story is how we will always remember her:
“Today, after I watched my dog get run over by a car, I sat on the side of the road holding him and crying. And just before he died, he licked the tears off my face.”
It should also be noted that the Dallas Cowboys have lost their truest fan.
A graveside service for Mrs. Talley is set for 12:00 noon Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 5127 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Memorials may be offered to Christ Episcopal Church or the American Heart Association.
