George Campbell Corley

George Campbell Corley passed away July 16, 2020. He was born on the family dairy farm on August 26, 1929 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

After graduating from Central Heights High School, George received his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, and a Master’s degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University.

He married Emma Deitz of Sylva, North Carolina on June 25, 1952, while serving his country as a Corporeal during the Korean War. George retired from the Farmers Home Administration with 34 years federal service as a District Director, granting loans to small businessmen and local communities throughout Texas.

He entertained his family by reciting epic poems that he had memorized in high school, and singing old country western tunes. His hobbies included volunteer work with the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, raising horses, and mowing with his prized Allis-Chalmers tractor.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma Deitz Corley, parents, Marshall and Lucille Corley, his brother Don Corley, and his sisters Nell Haubold, Betty Jones, and Jean Crank.

He is survived by his sister, Nancy Pierce, daughter, Cynthia Corley Crapsey, and grandson, Campbell Crapsey.
