Glenda Lorene (Wright) Eidson, age 78, passed away at her home in Garrison on Sunday, April 21, 2024. She was lovingly surrounded by her family. She was a lifetime resident of Garrison, Texas, as well as a lifetime member of the Appleby Church of Christ. She was a servant of Christ, a loving wife, sister, mother, and MomMaw.
Glenda was born on April 5, 1946, in Nacogdoches, Texas to her loving parents Louis Lonnie "Dick" Wright and Tommie Lorene (Lawson) Wright, who precede her in death. Glenda graduated from Garrison High School in 1964. She married her beloved husband, John Homer, on April 10, 1965. They just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Glenda loved gardening, working in her flower beds, reading the Bible, fishing, and sitting on her porches enjoying all of nature while sipping her cups of coffee. She also taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John Homer Eidson; daughters, Kim Prince and husband Scott of Garrison and Karen Chancellor and husband Sam of Garrison; grandchildren, Laura Huffman and husband AJ of Garrison, Kaylee Cage and husband Clint of Tyler, Doug Prince and wife Hannah of Garrison, and Peyton Chancellor of Garrison; sister, Gayle Stokes and husband Bubba, of Garrison; sister-in-law, Marilyn Wright of Garrison; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and her devoted church family.
She is also survived by her two precious and special great-granddaughters, Emma Grace Huffman and Ellie Jordan Huffman. Another great-granddaughter, baby Cage, is due to arrive in July and would have been just as special.
Glenda was also preceded in death by her brothers, Glyn Thomas Wright, Troy “Dicky” Wright, Charles Louis Wright and wife Ima Jean, and Don Gerald Wright.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Appleby Church of Christ, Appleby, Texas, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM officiated by Shak Arrington and Wesley Wiggins. Glenda will be laid to rest in Bethel Cemetery in Appleby.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Chancellor, Scott Prince, Peyton Chancellor, Doug Prince, AJ Huffman, and Clint Cage.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Harbor Hospice for the excellent care they gave her in her last days.
