At age 12, Bozy accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and went on to faithfully serve him all of his days.
In high school, Bozy was the pushup champion where he could do 275 pushups without stopping. Bozy was also known for being able to run from Timpson to Garrison. Bozy graduated from Garrison High School in 1954. After graduation, he purchased the family farm and later other farms for his beef and dairy businesses. Bozy milked dairy cows while attending Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. He graduated from SFA with 4 majors; Botany, Zoology, Earth Science, and Agriculture Science. Over his lifetime, Bozy accumulated 236 college credit hours.
After graduating from SFA in 1959, Bozy worked at Commercial State Bank in addition to his dairy operations. Later, he would go on to sell insurance and real estate in Garrison. At one point, Bozy managed his insurance and real estate business while overseeing up to 350 beef cattle for himself and the Latimer family.
Bozy married Mary Elise Moore Adams on March 25, 1967. Together, they had Amy Kathryn in 1976. Family meant the world to Bozy. He was forever taking care of his siblings and their families and loved Mary and Amy with everything in him.
He was an 8th grade boys’ Sunday School teacher and Deacon at First Baptist Church and later Arlam Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was a member of the Garrison Lions Club, a Mason, a Garrison City Council member, a Volunteer Firefighter and EMS worker, a member of the Attoyac Watershed Board and the Nacogdoches Soil and Water Conservation District Board. Bozy was instrumental in helping Lake Naconiche become a reality.
Between the ages of 62 and 77, Bozy walked laps at the Garrison High School track equal to having walked a circle around the earth. Bozy was also a faithful volunteer at the Garrison Nursing Home where he sang hymns at least twice a week.
Bozy is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his mother and father, Mary Emma and Willie Lacy, and siblings Rex, Muncy, Norma, Mary, Lerline, Mildred, Elizabeth, and Nadine.
He is survived by his sister Kathleen Mosby of Garrison, daughter Amy (David) Willis of Lufkin, grandchildren AJ and Katy Beth Willis and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bozy loved to tell jokes and quote poetry. He was a generous man, a friend to all that he met, and will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be all his nephews that had the privilege to know him as "Uncle Bo."
A visitation for Bozy will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 275 W Magnolia St, Garrison, TX 75946, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
