James Lee Grimes

Funeral services for James Lee Grimes, 70, of Etoile, Texas will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Bro. Dale Jackson of Shirley Creek Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in Etoile, Texas.

James passed away in Etoile on November 4, 2010. James was born May 17, 1940, in Chireno, Texas, to Allan Grimes and Maggie Grimes Posey.

Early in life, James became an owner and ran a full service station in Martinsville. Later, he moved to Austin to work as a maintenance foreman for IBM. James had many extra jobs which included electrical, plumbing, and construction work. He enjoyed gardening and was everyone’s handyman.

Survivors include his daughter Adena Whitten and husband Michael, son, Allan Grimes, sister, Hazel Carroway of Etoile, Texas, Lamyrle Hampton and husband Gene of Crockett, Texas, Six grandchildren and special cousin Dorothy Koonce.

James was preceded in death by his parents; James Allan Grimes and Maggie Grimes Posey, brother, Gerald Grimes.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Grimes, Kyle Grimes, Terry Hampton, Clint Hampton, Keith Lowery, J.M. Grimes, Tommy Menchew, Oscar Allen, Gerald McClure, and John Spencer.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf.

Memorial donations may be made to Smyrna Cemetery, Etoile, Texas.
