OBITUARY
Jarvis Truman Ammons
July 12, 1926 – August 20, 2011
Graveside services for Jarvis Ammons, former City Manager, will be held at the Martinsville Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, with Reverend Allen Reed officiating.
Mr. Ammons passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. He has born on June 12, 1926, in Nacogoches and was a resident of the city for most of his life.
Ammons graduated from Texas A&M University in 1949 and held at lifelong allegiance to Aggie tradition. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on vessels in the Pacific theatre.
Survivors include his sons, Mark Ammons of Nacogdoches and Michael Ammons of Houston, daughter Rose Stanaland and husband Alvin Stanaland of Nacogdoches. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Helen Rose Fuller Ammons, and by his parents, Jim Ammons and Velma Sitton Ammons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Love, INC.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.

I worked with Jarvis at the Jacksonville, Texas Division Office Gas company. I played in company golf outings with him. He was a good friend to me and to all that knew him. He will be missed.
