Ruby Jean Ferraro, 83, of Cushing, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026. She was born on June 13, 1942, in Marshall, Texas, and lived a life marked by deep faith, devotion to family, and a heart for serving others.
She shared forty-two loving years of marriage with her devoted husband, Pat Ferraro. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, friends, and community. She was a proud and loving Mom to Dr. Chuck Clinkscales and wife Elisa of Lufkin, Mark Ferraro of Spring, Vickie Mueller and husband Greg of Spring, and Chadd Clinkscales and wife Valarie of Cypress. She was a cherished Grandma to Sara Records and husband Daniel, Emily Walling and husband Josh DeLeon, Katie Smith and husband Jeffrey, and Carlie Clinkscales. Affectionately known as Grammy, her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Lennox Simmons, Elizabeth Records, and Cameron Records.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ethan Sorensen, Fleta Nutt, Sam Ferraro and wife Carolyn, Josephine Green and husband Junior, and Donna Nutt Kyte and husband Dave, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben (Ruby) Bryan Nutt and Ivy Irene Gregory Nutt; her brothers Billy Nutt and wife Loreta, Bobby Nutt, and Bryan Nutt; and her sister Peggy Sorensen.
Jean began her working career with the Houston Chronicle before joining IRI International (formerly Bowen Tools Inc.) as an executive secretary. She devoted more than 30 years to the company, advancing through the organization with dedication, integrity, and a genuine care for others to serve as Vice President of Human Resources during the final five years of her career. In retirement, she answered a higher calling, faithfully serving as a local pastor to numerous congregations in the United Methodist Church throughout the East Texas region, where she was known for her compassion, wisdom, and steadfast faith.
Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. Each morning, she could be found preparing breakfast while joyfully singing hymns, her heart praising and worshipping her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived her faith daily, guided by His will and purpose.
She was a passionate Master Gardener and former member of the Nacogdoches County Master Gardeners Association. The flowers surrounding the family farmhouse are a living testament to her care, patience, and love for creation (and Pat’s hard work)! Whether with gloved hands or bare, she found joy and happiness working the soil.
She also had a gift for restoration and a sharp eye for value. For years, she operated Willowcreek Antiques, guided by her belief that “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.” She delighted in “rescuing” discarded and forgotten items and breathing new life into them, transforming the old into something renewed and meaningful- a reflection of her own faith and outlook on life.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Philip LaBarbera, Dr. Samir Germanwala, and their dedicated staffs for the compassionate and loving care they provided.
A visitation and memorial service celebrating Jean’s life will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Cushing United Methodist Church in Cushing, Texas. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 p.m., with the memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
Ruby Jean Ferraro’s life was a testament to faith, family, love, and service. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering belief - a life beautifully lived in the touch of the Master’s hand.
