Jeannie graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1947 and from Durham Business College in 1963. Jeannie joined Commercial National Bank in 1969, working in various departments in the bank, leading to the position of vice president and loan officer in 1976. She is a graduate of the Southern Methodist University Intermediate Banking School and the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma. In 1989, Jeannie and Everett both retired to travel and “do a little of this and that.” She enjoyed time with her family, reading, movies and especially traveling in the RV with Everett.
Jeannie was an active community member serving on numerous boards, including the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce, American Cancer Society, United Way, Nacogdoches CVB and Fairview United Methodist Church. September of 1982, she was awarded as a Life Member of the Chamber of Commerce due to her years of service to the organization. She is survived by her husband, Everett Stevens, son and daughter in law, Dennis and Debbie Stevens of Nacogdoches, and grandson, Ted Stevens of Cleburne, TX. The family wishes to thank the staff of Magnolia Court and the Hospice of East Texas for their loving care during her time of need.
