

He attended schools in both Sewickley, Pennsylvania and Kingwood, Texas. He had just completed his junior year at Kingwood High School.
John ran track, and was on the robotics teams in both Sewickley and Kingwood. He was in the Key Club and did volunteer work at the Houston Food Bank.
John had a passion for model trains. He was a plane spotter and had one of his pictures published in the Pittsburgh Airport Magazine. John loved astronomy. Many starry nights, he set up a telescope at the farm to watch an eclipse, the Milky Way, or the planets. John was looking forward to taking flight lessons. John loved history, particularly WWII.
The family farm was John’s “happy place.” There, he hunted, fished and enjoyed family gatherings.
John loved the lord and attended church with his family at the various Churches of Christ.
John is survived by his father Brett Kirk, sister Eliza Kirk, grandparents Betty and Bill Kirk, grandmother Nancy Manning and uncles Trent Kirk and Jim Manning, aunt Kim Kirk and cousins Ali and Leah Kirk.

This scholarship is set up to honor both William and John by helping future graduates of Kingwood High School meet their educational goals.
The Memorial Service will be at Timberland Drive Church of Christ, 912 S Timberland Dr, Lufkin, TX 75901 on Saturday, June 21st at 2:00. A reception will follow immediately at the Museum of East Texas, 503 N Second St, Lufkin, TX 75901. For a livestream of the funeral, go to timberlandchurch.org
