John graduated from Woden High School in 1963. Spending his entire life in the Melrose community, he worked as a farmer and rancher. Those that knew him knew that he was a hard worker. In his free time, he enjoyed sitting on his porch watching nature, and enjoying God’s beauty. John was a faithful member of the Melrose Methodist Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Kenneth Mettauer.
Those left to cherish his memory include cousins; Patsy Seale Nabours and husband Jimmy, Terry Nabours, Tracy Nabours Vann, Amy Nabours Corley, Joe Bill Mettauer and wife Connie, Linda Mettauer Muse (Perry), Glenda Mettauer Keel and husband Freddie, Charles Christopher and wife Sherry; and friends, Kristi and Rodney Spencer, Tanya Greer Cornelius and husband Billy Mike.
A visitation for John will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North St, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to Melrose Volunteer Fire Department, 2872 CR 331, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961 US.
