Laura Ruth Necessary

Laura Ruth Harrell Necessary, age 69, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. She was born in Houston, Texas, to Bruce and Margie Harrell and was a proud graduate of Central Heights High School, class of 1974.

Laura dedicated many years of service to her community through her work. She served as Business Office Manager at Nacogdoches Medical Center and Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, where she was known for her strong work ethic and caring nature. For a time she owned and operated a flower shop in Nacogdoches, sharing her creativity and love for the people. Later, after moving to Cleveland, Texas, she continued her career in public service, retiring in 2018 from the Montgomery County where she worked as a Court Clerk.

Above all, Laura cherished time spent with those she loved. She enjoyed traveling and competing at barbecue cook-offs and was happiest gathered around her big table, surrounded by family, friends, laughter, and good food. Known lovingly by her nieces and nephews as "Aunt Ruthie", she held a special place in the hearts of her family. Her warmth, strength, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was survived by her son, Jason Rowlett and wife Liz of Nacogdoches; daughter, Celeste Rowlett of Carthage; grandchildren, Hayden Engle and wife Harley, Michael Engle and wife Jada, Gunner Rowlett, and Abigail Rowlett; and great-grandchildren, Hadlie, Haylie, and Indie. She is also survived by her sister, Brenda Stephens and husband Gary, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Margie Harrell; her husband Don Necessary; her brother Donald Wayne Harrell ; her great- grandchild, Harper Engle; and her special friend and companion, Gilbert Springer.

A graveside service will be held Saturday February 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Redland Cemetery in Lilbert, Texas. Laura's legacy lives on through the love she gave so freely and the many lives she touched along the way.
