Laura Jean Sanford

Funeral services will be held for Laura Jene Sanford, with her daughter, on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. in the Garrison Church of Christ, Garrison, Texas. Visitation will be Friday evening, November 10th, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Sunset Chapel of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Laura Jene Sanford was born on December 11, 1949. She attended Garrison Public School and worked as a teacher in the San Francisco, California public schools. She married Kenneth Ray Sanford of Lufkin, Texas. On October 28, 2023, God called her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Ray Sanford; her daughter, Laquice Kaye Sanford; her mother and father, Turner Gipson, Sr. and Eddie Gipson; one brother, Robert E. Gipson; and two sisters, Sandra K. Gipson and Judy Blount.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Kenneth Sanford of San Francisco, California and Kelvin Sanford of Nacogdoches, Texas; three sisters, Brenda Griffith and Sharlon Gipson of Garrison, Texas and Annie Gipson of Lufkin, Texas; three brothers, Turner Gipson, Jr. and Ted Gipson of Garrison, Texas, Donnie Gipson and Kim Gipson of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, B.J. and Anna Griffith, Javon and Ruth Griffith, and Brittany Griffith of Nacogdoches, Texas, Tahrio, Kenesha and Tiwanna of San Francisco, California, Kelvin Sanford, Jr. of California, eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Toby Griffith, Michael Gipson, Turner Gipson Jr., Marcus Gipson, Ted Gipson and Anthony Blount.

Honorary Pallbearers are Rodney Yarbrough, Timothy Gipson, WJ Wallace, Jarvis Bryant, Jerell Gipson and Don Earl Gipson.
