Obituary of Lois Wynne Boatman
On September 15, 2022, Lois Wynne Boatman of Mount Enterprise, Texas was called home to be with her Lord. Lois was born December 4, 1943, in Houston the second child of James (Jimmy) Marshall Wynne II and Evelyn Bedingfield Wynne. She graduated from high school in Houston but met the love of her life Langston Boatman at a youth religious gathering at her parent’s farm in Mount Enterprise. From then until his untimely passing in 1998 she only had eyes for him. On her Facebook page when asked what she studied at Stephen F. Austin, she wrote “Langston Boatman”. Lois and Langston embarked on a life of raising children and managing hotels all over East and Central Texas: Houston, Nacogdoches, Caldwell, Madisonville, Conroe, Huntsville, College Station, and Brenham-some of those places twice! She was a consummate hostess-a great cook and a hard-working partner with a sharp wit and a heart devoted to her husband and family. After Langston’s death, she continued a successful career in furniture sales at Star Furniture in Houston. Upon retirement, she moved to Mount Enterprise to the family farm and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She filled her life with old movies, music, devotion to help with refurbishing the Mount Enterprise library and praising the Lord with her First Baptist church family and faith. She was a joyful and funny presence who loved her friends and family and filled her home with warmth and kindness and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her eldest sister, Marye Wynne Humphries and her husband Robert L. Humphries, her younger sister Kathleen Card Wynne and younger brother James Marshall Wynne III. All are residents of Mount Enterprise. By her daughter Lisa Boatman Bowen of Boulder, CO, her son Leonard Boatman Jr. and his partner Samantha Eubanks of Kerrville, Texas, her daughter Leslie Ash and her husband Jeff of Austin, Texas and daughter Laurie Jopling and her husband Paul of Garrison, Texas. By her grandchildren Christopher Wakefield of Boulder, CO, Cory Schilder and his wife Sarah of Shreveport, LA, Lindsey Slagle and her husband Colin of Austin, TX, and Chase Hensarling and his partner Destiny Flores of Nacogdoches, TX and Luke and Logan Jopling of Garrison, TX. By her great-grandchildren: Amir and Gia Hensarling of Nacogdoches, TX & Judah, Arlis, and Aylah Slagle of Austin, TX. A visitation with the family will be held at Cason Monk-Metcalf on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held September 24, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Mount Enterprise, Texas at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Helpenstell cemetery. One of her favorite bible verses was Jesus’ farewell to his disciples in John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”. Memorial contributions can be made to the following in memory of Lois Boatman.
