August 19, 1933April 7, 2018

Lynda "Bitsy" Pool Lynda was born on August 19, 1933, in Nacogdoches, Texas to parents C.C. Young, DVM, and Jane Stripling Young. She passed away peacefully on April 7, 2018, while a resident of the Garrison Nursing Home.

She was a camper at Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, and then served as a horseback riding counselor for many years. Lynda was a graduate of Nacogdoches High School, class of 1950, where she was a cheerleader and elected "Wittest" by her classmates. She attended Ward Belmont College (Nashville, TN) and Sullins College (Bristol,VA), before returning to graduate from Stephen F. Austin. She did her laboratory technician training in Houston after graduation.

While at SFA, she met Eli Williamson Pool from Henderson, Tx and they were married on September 10, 1955. They had two daughters, Jane Ann Pool Godsey of Nacogdoches, Tx and Lisabeth Pool Yeager of Pine Hill, TX.

Lynda began riding and showing American Saddlebred horses with her father as a young girl. This love of horses continued throughout the rest of her life - producing numerous horse shows, including the Nacogdoches Horse Show (known as "The Biggest Little Show on Earth); raising Arabian horses; and producing many Arabian Horse shows in Nacogdoches, Lufkin and Dallas.

In addition to the horses, Lynda greatly enjoyed working in her yard with camellias and azaleas, reading, fishing, and visiting with the neighbors. Lynda was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughters, and brother and sister-in-law, John and Marianne Young and their children, Charles Young and wife Christine, and Leanne Brenneman and husband Brad, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Garrison Nursing Home for their great care and extra-special thanks to her roommate and friend, Ellen Hughes.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 9:00-10:00 AM, with the funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM, Sunset Chapel at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

The very first horseshow I announced was in Nacogdoches. I was a nervous wreck, but Lynda was very supportive. She was a great ambassador for the Arabian Horse and the shows. Definitely a unique individual. She will be greatly missed.
