Mary Juanita Williams, 87, of Nacogdoches passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at Magnolia Court in Nacogdoches. She was born February 14, 1931, in Garrison to parents Charles Floyd and Alma (Cryer) Smith.
Juanita met her husband of 67 years, Billy, in Humble, Texas. He was a classmate of her cousin, Ruth Mary Melton Arrington. They were married November 10, 1950. They retired to Garrison in the early 1980’s to be closer to family. She was a courageous, supportive woman who guided her household and served her family. She could do whatever she put her mind to.
Her family described her as a comforting person who would always lend a listening ear or a helping hand to those in need. She was quiet, reserved, elegant, and lady-like. The most important part of her life was her strong Christian faith. Serving as an elder’s wife, she was heavily involved in the church and community, and her faith never failed, even through many trials in life. The best way to fully get an understanding of who Mrs. Williams was in her life would be to read Proverbs 31, verses 10-31.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, W.G. Smith and James Floyd Smith; and son-in-law, Tommy Jamar.
She is survived by her husband, William “Billy” Williams; sister, Bobbie Klingsporn; daughter, Karen Denise Jamar; daughter, Sandy Sanchez and husband Larry; granddaughter, Leah Suzanne Tomlinson and husband Jon; granddaughter, Ashley Sanchez; granddaughter, Stephanie Jamar; great-grandson, Kade Dingler; and great-grandson, Cash Michael Tomlinson. She is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends she made during her time on this earth.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, officiated by Randy Harshbarger and Shannon "Shak" Arrington. Interment will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery.
