Hey all,

My name is Matt, whoops, Matthew Raymond Flynn, my Mom probably would have wanted me to use my entire name. I was born in Denver, Colorado, on October 11th, 1967, (died September 27, 2017) but I lived most of my formative years in Wheatland, Wyoming (Go Bulldogs!!). Yep, I graduated from Wheatland High School, in 1986. So, if you’re reading this, I’ve probably met my end, but that’s ok, I’ll be fine, I trust my brothers will throw me a fine Irish wake!! I loved my life, I had a real zest for it; hence my love for riding motorcycles. I had a wonderful daughter, Courtney Danielle, who I referred to as “CDF”, she loved me and I loved more than anything spending time with her. I had a very “unique” personality, I never met a stranger, literally everybody was a friend to me. I loved the Denver Broncos, tolerated the Green Bay Packers (inside story), and I absolutely adored the band KISS!! I loved watching sporting events, pro or collegiate. I loved working at Stephen F. Austin University, everybody there I adored and respected (it was a home away from home for me). Nacogdoches was my adopted home, but I never lost touch with my high school posse from Wheatland!! They will be bored without me, I was the requisite entertainment at all social events. I will be survived by my Dad, Ray Flynn, three brothers, Patrick, Christopher and Ryan oodles and oodles of nieces, nephews and cousins, I’ll miss you all. So, that’s it, have fun everyone and remember, I’ll be with you always in spirit (his memorial is on Sunday, the 1st of October, 1-3pm, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home, very casual, come and go as you please, Bronco attire encouraged!!).

Peace out!!

Dude. You just rocked your own obituary! I'm certain you were a person to know. I didn't, but I'm sure you blessed those who did. God bless, rest in peace

I only met Matt a couple of times, but he certainly made an impression. As a friend of his brother, and sister-in-law, Chris and Denise for almost 30 years, I would like to express my sincere, and heartfelt sadness to the entire family for their loss. I have, and always will, cherish the time we were all together in New Orleans with Pat, Matt, Chris and Ryan, and how they all made me feel like one of their brother's. I love you guys, and my heart breaks for your loss. Godspeed....

Dear Matty, read your obit and it was THE best, funniest and sweetest I've ever read. I cried and laughed at the same time. You are one of God's angels, He sent you on a special mission, "go and share your joy and laughter with everyone you meet". Mission accomplished. Give your Mom, Tim, David, Steve and Blue hugs and kisses from the Brian Flynns. Today we are with your precious Courtney, Your Dad Ray, Brothers Patrick, Chris, Ryan and your BFF Diane, in spirit. See you in Wheatland. Maybe it will turn out to be one of our special "Flynn Reunions", who knows. Aunt Mary Ann, GO BRONCOS!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. What a dynamic man. May all the memories of him comfort you, and all the prayers from family and friends strengthen you. May God also give you the courage to endure the days ahead (2Thessalonians 2:16,17).

I am so sad to learn of Matt's death. I honestly barely knew him from when he worked at Lasergraphics in the 90s, but that just tells you something right there, that someone you barely knew could make such an impression on you. Truly nice guy and unique individual. A loss to our town, to SFA, to his family and friends. My heartfelt prayers and condolences.

How can you possibly make me laugh when I'm so sad. Reading this, it reminds me of who you are, and why I will celebrate having known you even while the tears roll down my cheeks. You were amazing, and I will cherish your friendship forever. Thank you for being so uniquely you. I wonder if KISS knows they lost their biggest fan and that your stage is now bigger than theirs. Somehow that seems appropriate - you were simply larger than life. xo
