

Nelda Jean Meador Rupert, age 93, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026. She was born on March 10, 1933, in Etoile, Texas, to Charlie Cuff Meador and Vivian Phillips Meador.
Nelda was raised in East Texas and attended Woden High School before continuing her education at a business college in Nacogdoches, Texas. She later worked as a Full Charge Bookkeeper for numerous years.
Above all, Nelda treasured her family and the many friendships she made throughout her life. She found great joy in shopping, traveling, quilting, playing games, and listening to music. An accomplished quilter, she created several prize-winning quilts that reflected both her talent and creativity. Gospel music held a special place in her heart, and she especially loved listening to The Hoppers.
Nelda was a faithful member of “Life” Church and was also an active member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas for several years, participating in both the Chireno and Nacogdoches chapters.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Raymond Rupert Jr.; several Cox stepchildren; her nephews, Charles W. Meador and his wife, Marsha, and Jerry L. Meador and his wife, Tracey; her nieces, Carolyn Cox and Marvis L. Johnson and her husband, Gary; 10 great-nieces and nephews; 22 great-great-nieces and nephews; and 7 great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Delton Patrick "Pat" Cox; her parents, Charlie Cuff Meador and Vivian Phillips Meador; her brother, Charles J. Meador, and his wife, Gwen Meador; her sister, Charlsie Burnaman, and her husband, Loith Burnaman; her sister - in - law, Faye Cox Brown; her nieces, Donna Gene "Deannie" Meador; her nephews, Larry Meador and Lane Cox, as well as her great-nephews Matthew Meador and Michael Cox.
Nelda will be remembered for her kind heart, steadfast faith, generous spirit, and the love she shared with everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Nelda was placed to rest at Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile, Texas on July 10th.
