Patricia Brennan Allen

October 19, 1954July 7, 2019

Patricia Brennan Allen of Nacogdoches died on July 7, 2019. Pat was born on October 19, 1954 in El Paso, Texas, to Thomas Brennan, Sr., and Gladys Atkinson Brennan (both deceased). She is survived by her loving husband Rodman Francis Allen, Jr., her brother Thomas Brennan, Jr., her son Edward Gonzalez Calix, Jr., and daughters Alison Beall and Summer Pickett, (who is married to Evan Pickett). She is also survived by her grandson Alexander Mark Beall.

Pat’s father was a Master Sergeant in the Army. As a 25-year veteran, he instilled in her a lifelong respect for the military and for the men and women who serve their country. Since she was in a military family Pat had an exciting childhood, moving from Texas to Germany twice, where they could travel around Europe, and to the Presidio of San Francisco, California. This travel gave her an appreciation of different peoples and cultures. Pat’s father was also a Shriner so she was active in the Rainbow Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star. These organizations taught her the value of community service, a calling which lasted her whole life. Since high school she was an active volunteer for the Salvation Army wherever she lived.

Pat attended Irving High School in El Paso, then moved to New Mexico, where she was in real estate and worked as a paralegal. After moving to Nacogdoches, Texas, she held a number of jobs. One of her favorites was delivering pharmaceutical supplies to nursing homes, since she could spend time chatting with elderly people across Deep East Texas.

One final contribution that Pat made was to donate her corneas to the Lions Club. Her brother Tommy has been blind since birth and as a child Pat said that she wanted to donate her eyes to a blind person. That loving wish has now been fulfilled.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with the Rev. Wanda Cuniff officiating. As Pat requested, her ashes will be scattered in the beautiful Davis Mountains of West Texas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Salvation Army.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches.

Over the recent years … joy and kindness and warmth RADIATED on each encounter. The photo above with the flower seems to TELL the story of my memories … which will always travel with me. SORROW is normal at such a time … but JOY and GRATITUDE assists the acceptance of the time when Our Father calls us home. Patricia shared a Great Gift of Love … will live beyond her time.

I will never forget the warmth and kindness Pat bestowed upon my mom during the days of my mom Mariettas passing . Her making the drive all the way to New York with Rod meant so much to both my mom and I. I will also always remember the love I saw that she had for her family . Her beautiful smile and her desire to get to know others . I am grateful that even though we lived miles apart, I did have the opportunity to get to know Pat. I know she will be deeply missed by those she so passionately cared for. I believe Pat is enjoying the Lords peace and joy now. My heartfelt prayers are with you all today that we too will feel His peace during this difficult time.
Much love
Janet and Steve
