Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Johnnie Glidden; her husband, Ben Wilson Carlisle; and her daughter, Cheryl Rae Hill.
Survivors include Debra Johnson and husband Dale of Maydelle; Julie Lebeau and husband Stephen of Athens; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much.
Pauline was the 3rd of 5 daughters born to her family. She graduated from Maydelle High School in 1942. After World War II, she married Ben Wilson Carlisle on March 9, 1946. They had three daughters and grew up as a close family that was taught to love each other and to love God. Pauline enjoyed teaching her daughters to sew, cook, garden, and to clean house.
Mrs. Carlisle was active in the Girl Scouts with her daughters and attended The Old North Church in Nacogdoches. Pauline will be most remembered for her kindness, honesty, independence, self-reliance, and tenacity (although some people would call it stubbornness). She wanted her daughters to be loving, confident, compassionate, educated young ladies, and she would do her best to make them that way. She never grew tired of news and photos of her great grandkids, and the visits made her so happy that she would talk for days about how cute and big the kids were getting. Her family always made her smile.
