Quillian Chappell Jordan, Jr. passed away after a short battle with cancer. Born in Eustace, Florida in 1938 – Chappell moved at an early age to Toccoa, Georgia where he stayed through high school. He met his future wife Mary Elizabeth in high school. After graduating from Piedmont College – he married Mary Elizabeth and moved to Austin, Texas in 1961 to attend the Episcopal Seminary while his wife taught elementary school.
During that time Chappell gained an interest in antiques and clocks which he learned how to repair. This interest evolved and he moved to Houston, Texas in 1965 to open an antiques store. This family owned business evolved into one of the largest clock dealerships in the United States.
Upon a visit to his youngest daughter at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, he saw that a historic 1899 Queen Anne house was for sale and in that moment fell in love with the house, decided to retire from the clock business and in 1996 moved to Nacogdoches where they have lived to this day.
What people may not know is his passion for doing things right and his many diverse interests that he taught himself and mastered. He was a true force of nature and one with boundless energy and always in search of another challenge. He was a master carpenter, private pilot, and car restoration enthusiast all while running a family business, having property in both Centerville, Texas and Lake Livingston to explore hobbies and relax with his family.
The entire family will miss him dearly – but will also celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will hold our memories dear.
He is survived by: wife of 62 years – Mary Elizabeth Jordan of Nacogdoches, TX; son, Quillian Chappell Jordan, III and wife Jennifer and their children Kendall, Cailin, McKenna, and Brennan of Dallas, TX; daughter, Chelsea Partridge and husband Matt and son Simon of Houston, TX; daughter, Chardin Dachelet and children Mali and Jordan of Nacogdoches, TX; sister, Nancy Cox and husband Barclay of Nashville, TN; sister, Trisha Patterson and husband Bill of Alief, TX.
