

Raymond Ray Jones was called home to Heaven to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the age of 86. He was born in Houston, Texas, on June 1, 1931, to Albert Jones and Josephine (Piscacek) Jones.
As a young man, Raymond served as a sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. Later he worked for 20 years for Arco Refinery in Houston as an Instrument Repairman. After retirement, he and his wife Bertha enjoyed touring the U.S. in their travel trailer. They travelled for about 10 years creating many amazing memories, especially in Colorado. They often traveled with or visited friends and family. Raymond enjoyed mining turquoise and making beautiful turquoise jewelry. They built their retirement home in Nacogdoches and moved in on his birthday, June 1st of 1996.
Raymond was a member of First Baptist Church of Nacogdoches. You could often find Raymond walking around the mall or at the senior center playing 42. He always enjoyed socializing with friends and family and had a smile for everyone he would meet. He enjoyed using his tractor to cut and maintain walking trails through the woods of his Nacogdoches property. He exercised daily and maintained amazing strength and physical discipline until the end.
Raymond will be remembered by his wife Bertha Jane (Hall) Jones of 58 years; his children, Brian Ray Jones of Nacogdoches, Texas, Ronald Craig Jones of Houston, Texas, and Janet Kay (Jones) Eby and husband Daryl Lynn Eby of Terlingua, Texas; his grandchildren, Lydia (Eby) Shows and husband Aaron Barclay Shows of Kountze, Texas, Joshua Michael Eby and Zachary Ryan Eby, both of Terlingua, Texas; and his great-grandchildren, Ryan Barclay Shows and Madelyn Abigail Shows, both of Kountze, Texas. Raymond is also survived by his brothers, Leroy Jones of Houston, Texas, and John Paul Jones of Pasadena, Texas. as well as many family members and friends.
Preceding him in death was his brother, Walter Jones of Deer Park, Texas.
Services are set for 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2017, at First Baptist Church, located at 411 North Street in Nacogdoches, with Pastor Noel Dear officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 5127 North Street in Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2017, at First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the Jones family is suggesting memorials to Nacogdoches Senior Center, 621 Harris St., Nacogdoches, TX 75964-5205.
