Reba King Yates

She was born in Cushing, Texas, to her parents, Thelma Fuller King and Doyle Robert King. Reba graduated from Garrison High School and went on to dedicate many years of service as a secretary for Douglass ISD, Stephen F. Austin University, and Nacogdoches ISD. She married her high school sweetheart Tommy on November 25, 1966 in Appleby, Texas.

Reba is survived by her beloved husband, Tommy Yates; her daughter, Angela Copeland and husband Randy; and her son, Thomas Doyle Andrew Yates and wife Stephanie. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Clint Copeland; Kyle Copeland and wife Jordan; Kaleigh Yates Bowman and husband Luke; Maycie Yates; Brianna Copeland; and Andi B. Yates. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Baker Copeland, Bryer Bowman, Davis Copeland, and Myles Bowman. She is also survived by her younger brothers Jerry Don King affectionately known as "Dunk" and wife Gina of Garrison, TX, and Robert King affectionately known as "Dank" and wife Kathy of Appleby, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle Robert King and Thelma Fuller King; her sister, Maxine King; and her nephew, Douglas Wayne Coats.

Reba was a woman who truly loved serving others. She found great joy in attending her grandchildren’s events and supporting them in all they did. She had a deep love for people—especially children—and was faithful in her service to the Lord. Throughout her life, her kindness and compassion touched countless students, teachers, and staff, leaving a legacy in her community. She will be greatly missed by all that she knew.

Visitation will be held at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas, on April 21, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm at the same location.

Reba’s final resting place will be at McKnight Cemetery, McKnight Cemetery Rd, Cushing, TX.
