He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1970. While attending SFA, he met Sharon, the love of his life, and they were married for over 52 years. They had two sons, Rob and Bryan.
Robert and Sharon made their home in Nacogdoches, where he was self-employed as a real estate appraiser for almost 40 years. Robert loved spending time at his family farm in Diana, which he took meticulous care of. At his farm, he would arise early in the morning and play his guitar on the front porch of his cabin while drinking a cup of coffee. Robert would then ride his tractor, pull weeds, take down trees and work the land all day. At the end of the day, he would again sit on his patio at sunset and watch deer run across the meadow.
Robert is predeceased by his parents, Tice and Lucy Hough, and brothers, Travis Hough and Jerry Hough.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Rebecca Hough of Longview and Bryan and Katie Hough of Dallas; grandchildren Robert Hough Ill (Bobby), Isabella Hough, Joseph Hough, Moses Hough, Heidi Hough, Jacob Hough, Lucas Hough and Emily Hough.
