

Mr. Robert Joshua "Rudy" Millard of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at the age of 85 in Nacogdoches, Texas.Mr. Millard was born January 4, 1930 to Bob and Katherine Millard and they precede him in death along with his brother, Gerald Millard and sister, Majorie Millard McMurrey.
A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.Rev. Charles G. Hensley will be officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery on Lanana Street in Nacogdoches. Active pallbearers will include Keith Millard, Robert Millard, Robert Morgan, Tim Roberts, Ben Benitez, and Brent Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Kerl, Scott Morton, Baker Denman, Ramiro Torres, Mike Millard, Bennie Bridwell, and Malcom Mc Millian.
Friends and family are invited to visitation at Old North Church on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
He was married to Nayona Crawford Millard for fifty-eight years and she survives him along with son, Taylor Millard and wife Sandy; daughter, Linda Millard Morgan and husband Wesley; five grandchildren, Hannah Morgan Roberts and husband Tim, Alban Millard Benitez and husband Ben, Robbie Millard and wife Lauren, Robert Morgan and wife Kendra and Mary Morgan; five great grandchildren who were all very special to him, Bethany, Madi, Ben, Bailee, and Ellie.
Mr. Millard joined the US Navy following high school in 1947 and was on the ship that fired the last round of the Korean War. He was proud of his service and recalled his Navy time fondly his entire life. Following the service he completed a college degree at Stephen F. Austin and after briefly working as a surveyor in Houston, returned to Nacogdoches to begin his lifelong passion of working for himself in agriculture. He operated a dairy, feed mill and beef cattle operation. Rudy was active in the formation of dairy cooperatives to provide better markets for himself and dairymen everywhere. He also established the Nacogdoches Flea Market in 1970 and before his recent brief illness missed one Flea Market in forty five years of operation.
Rudy was also active in his community and was a past Jaycee president and served for many years on the Tax Board of Equalization and Millard's Crossing Board and a member of The Ark and Dove Society.He enjoyed bird hunting, and was a great shot, and strived to make his property a sanctuary for all wildlife.
There are not many characters in this world that speak their mind freely but he did and he influenced the lives of all he met. The family would like to thank Robbie Morton, Scott Morton and Roy and Charli Kerl for their loyal service in making his life better. He will be missed.
