As a teenager he fought his way across Europe as a front line GI in World War II. He always refused to speak of the horrors he experienced, only saying that he would have gladly died…if only he could have been warm and clean.
When he came home he married Jo Anne Leslie (married 66 years) and got his doctorate in biology from Texas A&M University. He traveled the world, taking his family with him as he followed his passions of plant pathology and archaeology.
While we are sad to see him go, we celebrate a life well lived. He was such a good, hardworking, loving, man…and if there were more like him in this world…it would be a better place.
Rest in Peace, Papa.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne; children, Robert Leslie, Lisa, and Julie and husband Bryan Farrell; and grandchildren, Robert Farrell and Lindsey Farrell.
