

Shannon Wayne Murdock, 43, of The Woodlands passed away on May 2, 2016. He was born on November 18, 1972, in Nacogdoches to Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Murdock. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1991 and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in art. He was married with two daughters and a step-daughter who were the light of his life.
Shannon was an electric personality his entire life; he was the life of every room no matter the occasion. He was the drummer for the Mayhew Prophets and Gravity Raincoat as well as other groups throughout his life. Shannon was an artist at heart, creating many treasured works for family and friends that expressed how he felt about them or the subject he was bringing to life on canvas.
Shannon and Missy were married on November 13, 2010, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have shared a number of special memories in these years, including trips to the "beach house," Las Vegas, the Cayman Islands, and Mardi Gras events in Galveston.
For the past several years he had worked in the petroleum industry. He was currently working as an equipment rental operations coordinator for Schlumberger.
He excelled in everything he did, was a friend to many, a super hero dad, and will be missed by everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa (Missy) Blacksher Murdock of The Woodlands; two daughters, Natalie and Sophia Murdock of Montgomery; step-daughter, Samantha Blacksher of The Woodlands; his mother, Elaine Murdock of Nacogdoches; his sister, Susanne Murdock Myler and her husband Wesley Myler of Brownwood; nieces, Ashley Crowther of Olympia, WA, and Bailey Myler of Brownwood; sister-in-law, Kim Anderson and daughter Alexandria of Nacogdoches; brother-in-law, Brandon Blacksher, wife Erin, and sons Ben and Gus Blacksher of Nacogdoches; father-in-law, Lonnie Blacksher and wife Charlotte of Nacogdoches; his daughters' mother, Melanie Martino and husband Thomas of Montgomery; aunt and uncle, Mike and Brenda Ennis of Ponder; aunt, Sybil Fuller of Buffalo Springs; uncle, Loran Murdock of Grand Prairie; cousins, Shawn Ennis of Denton, Julie Holley of Ponder, Sharon Duff of Grand Prairie, Gerry Barrere of Arlington, Ralph and Kim Murdock of Houston, Ginger Fuller Glaze of Bowie, and Butch Fuller of Buffalo Springs; and a multitude of extended friends that were like family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Wayne Murdock in 2006; and his mother-in-law, Pat Boatman Blacksher in 2012.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Cason Monk-Metcalf's Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches, with Rev. Terry Hodge officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stephen F. Austin Art Department.
