Mrs. Thelma Joyce Jackson

Mrs. Thelma Joyce Jackson, age 69, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 23, 2014. She was born in Douglass, Texas on November 19, 1944 to parents, Clifton Clyde Parrish and Rebecca Rogers Parrish.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 10:00 am at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Rev. Jubal Cannon officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells, Texas.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Tuesday, March 25 from 6:00 8:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Dorothy Stone, Veriline Parrish, Nellie Cooper; 2 brothers, Max Parrish, Marvin Parrish: grandson, Colton McClendon.

She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Doyle Jackson; son, David Martin and wife Miraflor; daughter, Mary McClendon and husband David, Rhonda Cannon and husband Jody; special nieces, Sue Shuffield and husband Billy, Helen Huizar and husband Johnny, Marie Stone; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Many good things can be said about Thelma. She loved to make special homemade cards with that special touch for all occasions for her friends and family. She was known to her family for her world famous” mashed potatoes and she loved her kids and her church family. Thelma attended Wells High School. To her family she was a devoted, patient and kind mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Mrs. Jackson was a Baptist but admired for her Christian values that she modeled. Even though she suffered the last few years with lung cancer that eventually took her life, she had grace and strength beyond what a normal person would have. Her smile has touched our lives and we long for the day we see her again.
