Wanda Jean Thomas

Mrs. Thomas was born July 4, 1941, in Garrison, Texas, to parents Grady Gipson McGuire and Georgia Lavinie Wells McGuire. She was a member of Appleby Church of Christ.

Wanda was married to Joseph M. Thomas on December 13, 1974, in Angelina County, Texas. She was a homemaker and faithfully took care of her family. Wanda loved to cook and no one ever went away hungry from her house. She was always beside her husband and supportive as he traveled with his career.

She was a very compassionate caring person. Wanda was quick to remember the birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions of family and friends.

Outdoor activities were very special to Wanda as she enjoyed tending flowers and working with Joe in the family garden. She was always happy when hunting and fishing as well.

Her survivors include her husband of 41 years, Joseph Thomas of Nacogdoches, Texas; children, Homer L. Guerra of Canyon Lake, Texas, Tina Marie Pearson of Cleveland, Texas, Sonya Lynn Lyke and husband Cal of Spring, Texas, and Joseph M. Thomas Jr. of Alexandria, Louisiana; grandchildren, Robert Scott Martin of West Monroe, Louisiana, Joshua Heath Martin and wife Britnny of Pollok, Texas, Courtney Jean Serrano and husband Samuel of Longview, Texas, Hunter Lloyd Guerra of Longview, Texas, C.J. Lyke of Spring, Texas, Kacee Marie Cantu and husband Mario of Austin, Texas, Nathaniel Thomas of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Myah Rose Thomas of Alexandria, Louisiana; nine great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Joyce Wingate of Nacogdoches, Texas; and brothers, Billy McGuire and wife Lois of Garrison, Texas, Raymond McGuire and wife Ann of Gladewater, Texas, and Grady McGuire and wife Louise of Nacogdoches, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor Lloyd Guerra; and a brother, James McGuire.

Services are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Cason Monk-Metcalf’s Sunset Chapel, Nacogdoches, with Mr. Kim Squiers of Appleby Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Cold Springs Cemetery in Garrison, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Tony McGuire, Gary McGuire, James McGuire, Jerry McGuire, Michael McGuire, Troy McGuire, Matthew Morgan, and Larry Hummel.
