

Kent was born in Houston, Texas, January 19. 1942, to Edith Hunter Ferguson and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended the First Baptist Church and was active in the YMCA where he became an excellent competitive swimmer. He was a Life Scout and inducted into the Order of the Arrow.
Kent served his country as a U.S. Marine and later as an FBI Special Agent in Washington, D.C., Kansas City, MO., and Memphis, TN. Where he specialized in investigating organized crime and bank robberies. In 1977 he started W. Kent Ferguson and Associate, Inc. which became Ferguson Garrett and Associates, Inc. and finally Ferguson Investigation and Security Consultants, Inc. The company was the premier consulting firm in Houston and had clients all over the world, conducting investigations into real estate fraud and asset searches worldwide. During its 35 years of operation the company provided employment for hundreds of investigators, researchers and clerical personnel.
Kent and Thelma Fielder married and were loving parents to Vikki and Bill, the delight of his life.
Later Kent and Suzanne Wylie married, and she brought with her Shelly, Nancy and Laura, three loving, precious daughters much to Kent's reward. Kent was a loving husband to Suzanne until her death in 2023.
In 2011 Kent and Suzanne purchased the Flying F Ranch bringing them to Nacogdoches, TX. They both worked hard to be accepted into the community volunteering for CASA, Nacogdoches Rotary Club, HOPE, Love, Inc., Newcomers and Nacogdoches Medical Center. They were active members of the First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches where they enjoyed the Round Table Sunday School Class as well as serving on various committees. Kent continued his love of competition through participation in marathons, triathlons, and national swimming events.
After Suzanne's death, Kent was blessed to get to better know his Rotary table friend, Judy McDonald. She brought another gift, her son Chris. They developed a deep, loving relationship becoming life partners, marrying April 18, 2026. They enjoyed traveling, sailing and making the most of every minute just being together. They continue to worship together in both Kent's First United Methodist Church and Judy's Austin Heights Church where they treasured the love and support of both communities of faith.
Besides his wife, Judy, he is survived by his daughter Victoria Ferguson Reed, son William K. Ferguson III, Shelly Offutt (Brett), Nancy Gallier (Brian), Laura McGinnis (Shane), and Chris McDonald (Kim). He was Poppy to Devin Davis (Amber), Taylor Christoff Hendrixson (Noah), Tyler Offutt, Mason Offutt (Anna), Connor Gallier, Austin Gallier, Kelly McDonald Rayburn (Tyler). He was also grandpoppy to Devin Davis Jr., Allanah Davis, Heath Rayburn, Adalaide Rayburn, and Chase Rayburn.
Preceding him in death was his mother Edith Hunter Ferguson, his spouse Suzanne Wylie, and Tucker McDonald.
Services will be at First United Methodist Church, Nacogdoches, TX at 3pm on July 11th.
