Buddy proudly served with the Metro-Dade Police Department for 34 years, dedicating his career to protecting and serving the South Florida community. Throughout his distinguished career, he served in several areas of the department, including the Flight Division, Motors Unit, and Special Events. After more than three decades of dedicated service, Buddy retired in 2003 as a Special Operations Lieutenant.
His 34 years of service reflected his deep commitment to his profession and the community he called home. Buddy’s career was an important part of his life and a legacy of service in which he and his family could take great pride.
Beneath Buddy’s strength was a deeply caring and generous heart. He had a special concern for those he felt were helpless, vulnerable, or struggling and would often quietly lend a helping hand anonymously, expecting nothing in return. He never sought recognition or praise for his kindness. For Buddy, knowing he had helped someone in need was enough.
Outside of his career, one of Buddy’s greatest joys was NASCAR. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend a race and was a devoted lifelong fan of Kyle Busch. Whether watching from home or experiencing the excitement at the track, NASCAR brought Buddy countless hours of enjoyment and remained a special part of his life.
Throughout his life, Buddy remained dedicated to having a strong mind and body. He faithfully worked out at his favorite gym, and in his younger years, he was known for being an avid runner, often running ten miles daily.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy Middleton; his sons, Albert Middleton IV (Sharon Middleton) and Wayne Middleton (Stacie Miller); his sister, Jean Huber; and his beloved grandchildren, Cheyenne Middleton and Albert Middleton V.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Middleton II and Mattie Bell Middleton, and his sisters, Carol Middleton and Gwynn Cain.
Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home (525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108) on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. After the Funeral Service will be the Entombment at 12:00 pm. A Catered Reception will follow at Hodges Funeral Home beginning at 12:30 pm.
