Anna Ruth Saporito (née Walmer), of Red Bank, NJ and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at the age of 91. She was the beloved daughter of Harold and Mildred Walmer, sister of Harold and Marlin Walmer, and was raised in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
From an early age, Ruth demonstrated exceptional musical talent. She performed in both the orchestra and band at Harding Jr High and Lebanon High School, where she was honored with a selection to the Southern States of Pennsylvania Band, a distinction that reflected her dedication and gift for music. She went on to graduate from Hershey Junior College before completing an internship in medical technology at Harrisburg Hospital. Her pursuit of excellence then led her to New York City, where she contributed to groundbreaking cancer research at Columbia Medical Center.
Ruth spent the greater part of her adult life in Monmouth County, New Jersey, where she built a rich and meaningful life while raising her three children. A woman of many passions, she was an avid bowler, bridge player, and tennis enthusiast. As a devoted member of her Colts Neck community, she participated actively in the Women's Club and the Phalanx Family and Children's Service.
Over the course of three decades, Ruth served with distinction in the administrative offices of Monmouth University, ultimately holding the title of Assistant to the Vice President for Student Financial Appeals. Among her many accomplishments, she took great pride in being able to help deserving young students secure scholarships, a legacy of generosity that will endure well beyond her years.
In her later years, Ruth made her home in Naples, Florida, where she lived for nearly a decade. Ruth brought warmth and wholehearted commitment to everything she touched, whether it was her community, her friendships, or the family she cherished above all else. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren, delighting in their many accomplishments, from school activities and graduations to sporting events. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving and kind soul.
Ruth is lovingly survived by her three children: Robert Saporito and his wife Joanna, Susan DeVito and her husband Andrew, and Karen Faherty. She is also survived by seven cherished grandchildren Robert, Richard, and Daniel Saporito; Ally and Robert DeVito; Chris Faherty and his wife Katie Davis; and Lauren Soltes and her husband Ryan, as well as four precious great-grandchildren: Mia and Maddie Faherty and Parker and Callahan Soltes, along with her sister-in-law Phyllis Walmer. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. Harold Walmer and Marlin Walmer, and her son-in-law, Bill Faherty.
A private celebration of life will be held in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, where Ruth will be laid to rest alongside her parents.
