Carolyn Feussner

Carolyn Feussner died peacefully on Friday, August 7 with daughter Ellen at her side. Carol treated her family and innumerable friends to over 97 years of joy. Born Carolyn Marie Williams in Newark, NJ, the first child of Frank and Josephine Williams, she grew up in East Orange, NJ. Like her mother, Carol was a bright and independent woman. She excelled in school, and took her talents to Sweet Briar College where she enjoyed theater and music. Carol also enjoyed modeling after graduating from the Barbizon School of Modeling. She played piano and sang for her family.

Carol married Frank Feussner, with whom she had three children, Jeffrey, Ellen and Neal. The family moved to Linwood, NJ in in the early 1960’s. She lived and thrived in Linwood for 56 years. As her children grew, she became interested in real estate sales, which was a career perfectly suited to her outgoing manner and ability to make friends. During her 42 year career, Carol became a licensed Broker; she was twice recognized as Realtor of the Year, and was the first woman to become a member of The Million Dollar Club of Atlantic County. Carol’s desire to help people led to her engagement in the community, later becoming the first woman president of the United Way of Atlantic County. She was also a long time member of Charity League.

Carol loved spending time at the beaches in Longport and Ocean City NJ, and with friends in St. Petersburg, FL. She often visited her namesake sister-in-law Carolyn Feussner in Rockledge, FL. A long time sports fan, she could often be heard urging on her favorite teams, the Phillies and the Eagles. She shared her passion for sports with her sons, grandson and great grandsons.

Carol was predeceased by her brother John Williams, former husband Frank Feussner, son Neal Feussner, and close companion Clancy Shaw.

She leaves behind her daughter Ellen Vail and spouse Steve Vail, son Jeffrey Feussner and his spouse Sally Feussner, grandson Justin Feussner and spouse Tiffany Feussner, great grandsons Amherst and Beckett Feussner, and many good friends. Her memory will be with them forever.
