Elizabeth "Betty" Colbert

Born on September 14, 1932, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, Betty lived a life defined by love, family, friendship, and adventure. She married her high school sweetheart Stoddard “Bud” Colbert, beginning a marriage that spanned decades and created countless cherished memories. While her family deeply mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing that Betty and Bud are together once again.

Betty and Bud raised their family in Braintree, Massachusetts, where Betty devoted her career to elementary education. She especially loved teaching third grade at St. Francis of Assisi School. Betty found great joy in helping children learn, and discover their potential. Her kindness, and encouragement left a lasting impression on the many students and families whose lives she touched.

In 1997, Betty and Bud retired to Naples, Florida, where they embraced a life of adventure. Together they traveled throughout the United States in their motor home and explored destinations around the world with dear friends, creating memories they treasured for a lifetime.

Betty is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lynda Colbert of Naples, Florida; Anne (Mike) and Laurie Colbert of Bonita Springs, Florida.

She was a proud and devoted grandmother/great grandmother to Lily (Guy), Logan and his loving family.

In her later years, Betty found a wonderful community at All Seasons in Naples, where she formed lasting friendships with an extraordinary group of women. She truly lived life to the fullest and was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Betty’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched—as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, dedicated teacher, loyal friend, and compassionate soul. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of her family and friends.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held in early September, around what would have been her 94th birthday. Additional details will be shared with family and friends as they become available.
