Honorata came to the United States in 1966, she was sponsored by her cousin, Walter, and his wife, Jean, to work as a cook in Judd’s Tavern (now Ringside bar) in Jersey City, New Jersey. She met her husband Joe, and they were married a short time later. The two were married for 56 years, showing that true love lasts a lifetime. In 1972, with a heart of gold and completion of a dream, she was blessed with her daughter Theresa. In the late 90s and early 2000s, she became a grandmother.
In 2001, she and Joe moved to Florida to stay close to her family. She loved to cook, but what she loved more was feeding others. She made cheesecakes and stuffed cabbage for her friends, family and neighbors, and always had a stash of candy in the refrigerator for the kids. She was passionate about her gardening, always tending to a plethora of plants that lined her lanai and her front yard. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family.
