Joan P. Wise

Joan was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 6, 1934, to Lucille B. Palda and John A. Palda. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Dr. Kendall C. “Casey” Wise, as well as her parents.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Kendall L. “Tad” Wise and his wife, Ruth; her daughter, Kendra W. Pallardy and her husband, Lee; her grandsons, Alexander C. Wise and his wife, Annie, and Maximilian J. Shumake; her granddaughters, Phoebe S. Wise and Kendall L. Shumake; and her great-granddaughter, Olivia Rolph.

Joan lived in Cleveland until she attended the University of Florida, where she met Casey. After living in various places while following Casey’s careers, they eventually moved to Naples in 1968. There, Joan became actively involved in the community, serving on various charitable committees to benefit Naples Community Hospital and the Humane Society.

Joan became an enthusiastic tennis player, participating in city and club tournaments and bringing home a large collection of trophies.

She loved playing bridge with her friends and, through the years, became a duplicate bridge player, earning the distinction of Ruby Life Master. She played bridge with her friends until her death.

Joan spent many summers with her family and friends on their boats in the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. After her children were married and on their own, she spent her summers at Linville Ridge in North Carolina, playing tennis, golf, and bridge almost every day.

Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished spending time with them. In her later years, she became a dominoes queen, beating her children and grandchildren while listening to Elvis Radio.

Joan will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her enduring friendships, her competitive spirit, and the many interests she pursued with enthusiasm. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who will miss her deeply.
