Born on December 31, 1936 in Greenwich, CT, June was the third of six children of Robert and Bridget (Leonard) Munnelly. She and her siblings, the late Robert Munnelly, Laurie Johnson, Kevin Munnelly, the late Rita Dennin, and Eileen Skruck remained close, faithfully attending Thanksgivings on Courtland Avenue with their growing families and supporting each other as they moved farther away from Stamford.
Raised by good parents who had the foresight to educate their daughters, she graduated as salutatorian from the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall in 1954, and she earned a BA in History from Albertus Magnus College in 1958 where she was president of the student body. While raising her children, she returned to school to earn an MA in English at Southern Connecticut State University and a Sixth Year Certificate in Education from Fairfield University.
June started her career in education at Burdick Jr. High in Stamford teaching history and civics. After over twenty years, she ended her career teaching English at Stamford High School. She was known for her ability to motivate reluctant learners and to impress upon her students the value of education.
June wed Vincent J. Falcone, at St. Maurice Church in Glenbrook, CT on April 25, 1959. She married into a big Italian family who loved her dearly for her thoughtfulness and kindness. June and Vin were happily married for 64 years. She loved being with him while attending kids’ sporting events, commuting to work, traveling to many countries, and eventually retiring to Naples, Florida. For her devotion to Vincent, she was affectionately called “St. June.”
June raised her family in Trumbull, CT, where she was an active member of Christ the King Parish serving as a Eucharistic minister, a religious education teacher, and a choir member. In Naples, Florida, she continued her service as a Eucharistic minister at St. John the Evangelist and as a member of the Arimetheans, a group that attends funeral masses and memorial services to provide support and compassion. Not one to seek the limelight, June quietly served and loved her neighbor.
June was a beloved member of her Stonebridge community, especially enjoying bridge, book club, Bone Builders (which she attended faithfully even at age 89), and the Ladies’ 9-hole golf group. Vincent was most proud of June’s Ladies’ 9-hole championship victory, happily bragging as she remained quietly humble.
June was a model of humility, and with her deferential nature and hard work, she enabled others to shine. There was a warmth about her and a beatific energy that made people feel good about themselves. Uplifted by her decency, selflessness, and positivity, she inspired people to be good; she was so affirming that everyone who met her treasured the gift of knowing and being loved by June.
She was proud of her three children and delighted in having six fun-loving grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Devoted to God, June was an inspiration as a person of deep faith. During her illness at the end of her life she was remarkably uncomplaining, always gracious and grateful for the support she received.
She leaves behind her son Stephen and his wife, Priscilla; daughters Maryellen and Suzanne and her husband, Douglas (MacLehose); and six grandchildren, Caroline and her husband, MacManus (Dolan), Bridget and her fiance, Austin (Cantwell), Matthew, Thomas, Daniel, Robert, and great-granddaughter, Beatrice.
There will be a Mass celebrating her life on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 10:00 am at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, Florida.
