Born in Long Beach, New York, Ria grew up with a love of music that would become an important part of her early life. A talented performer, she enjoyed a promising musical career, performing in several successful bands and groups alongside people closest to her, including her dear friend Marie Balistreri and her brother, the late Louis Quinto. Her career included a record and television appearances, but perhaps its greatest success was introducing her to a young drummer named Donald Goller, who would become her husband of 56 years.
Ria ultimately chose to leave her musical career behind to raise a family, a decision that reflected what would always be the center of her world: the people she loved. Together, she and Donald raised their two sons, Michael and Joseph, in Mt. Sinai, Long Island, building a home filled with warmth, laughter, music, and the unmistakable aromas of her beloved Sunday dinners.
Ria had a wonderful sense of humor and a lighthearted approach to life. She was extraordinarily kind, quick to laugh, and happiest when surrounded by family. She loved the New York Yankees, her red Corvette affectionately named “Gina,” and, above all, her grandchildren.
As a grandmother, Ria was both devoted and delightfully mischievous. She had a special nickname for each of her grandchildren, often inspired by vegetables—among them Chickpea, Butterbean, and Teenie Zucchini. She was also known to slip them treats and indulgences when their fathers weren’t looking, taking particular pleasure in the small conspiracies that only a loving grandmother could orchestrate.
Ria’s greatest joy was the happiness of her family. Her kindness, humor, and generosity of spirit made the ordinary moments of life feel special, and her love was expressed not only in words but in countless small gestures of affection.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald; her sons, Michael and Joseph; and her five cherished grandchildren, Jett, Ty, Kieran, Rae, and Isabella.
Ria leaves behind a family who adored her, a lifetime of beautiful memories, and a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that will continue through the generations.
