Morrie was born in Akron, Ohio on October 31, 1932 to Rose (Grauer) and Nathan Katz. He graduated from Buchtel High School in Akron and served in the Army in the Korean War. Morrie married Barbara Richman on February 23, 1958 in Philadelphia. He worked at and co-owned City Scrap & Salvage for nearly 50 years, eventually passing along the business to the next generation of family members. Morrie was involved in Hakoah, The Masons and the Jewish VFW.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Max, Ruth, Isadore, Marian and Joseph. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, children, Mindy (Jeff) Kaplan and Steve (Annette) Katz, grandchildren, Ryan (Kaleigh) Katz, Jordan (Alyssa) Kaplan and Sydney Katz (Austin) Schoff, brother Leo, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will take place, graveside, at Naples Memorial Park and Cremation Gardens (525 111th Avenue N, Naples, FL 34108) at 10:30am on Tuesday August 18th. The service may be streamed at: https://bit.ly/MorrieMemorial
