Nancy Blaszko

Nancy devoted her life to education, science, and helping others learn. As a respected biology teacher at Immaculate Heart of Mary High School, she inspired generations of students with her knowledge, patience, and enthusiasm for the natural world. Her passion for learning also led her back to Northern Illinois University, where she earned her master's degree, further strengthening her commitment to education and scientific discovery. As a microbiologist and educator, she believed that knowledge had the power to change lives.

Though Nancy never married and had no children, her life was rich with the love of family and friends. She treasured time spent with her siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She especially enjoyed playing cards, where laughter and friendly competition were always part of the game. Some of her happiest moments were spent with her cherished friends, the Western Girls, whose friendship brought her years of joy, companionship, and unforgettable memories.

Although Alzheimer's disease gradually stole many of Nancy's memories, it never diminished the love that surrounded her or the countless lives she touched. Her kindness, intelligence, quiet strength, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Nancy is lovingly remembered by her sister, Kathie Blaszko; her sister, Peggy (Mike) Hoggatt; her brother, John (Marilou) Blaszko; as well as her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family, dear friends, former students, and colleagues. She leaves behind a legacy of learning, compassion, and enduring friendship.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Nancy's life will be held on Friday, August 7, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Avenue North, Naples, Florida 34108. Interment will follow at Naples Memorial Gardens, located at the corner of 111th Avenue North and Vanderbilt Drive, Naples, Florida 34108.

The family is grateful for the care and compassion shown to Nancy throughout her illness by wonderful healthcare workers. May she now rest in eternal peace, free from the burdens of Alzheimer's disease, and may her memory forever remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
