

Born on November 14, 1944, in Hartford, Connecticut, Nancy was the daughter of Robert E. Miller and Anna Talarski Miller. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister June Miller Grossman, and her brother Robert E. Miller Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Stanley T. Wells; her brother, Russell J. Miller; her son and daughter-in-law, Sean P. Kelly and Jeanne Helm Kelly; her daughter and son-in-law, Kristine K. Chitkara and Nevin P. Chitkara; her cherished six grandchildren, Lauren Kelly, Jason Kelly, Ryan Kelly, Brenna Chitkara, Brady Chitkara, and Brogan Chitkara. Nancy lived a life defined by love of family and an unwaveringly positive spirit.
Nancy graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1962, where she was an honor student and captain of the cheerleading squad. She continued her education at Wheaton College and the University of Connecticut and later earned her master’s degree from the University of Hartford. A devoted and gifted educator, Nancy taught mathematics to middle and high school students for 17 years, spending 15 of those years teaching in Portland, Connecticut. Nancy embraced life with energy and curiosity. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, crossword puzzles, travel, and boating. In retirement she especially loved the opportunity to see more of the world. including four African safaris that ranked among her favorite international journeys.
Nancy was a member of Stonington Country Club in Stonington, Connecticut since 2000, and Quail Creek Country Club in Naples, Florida since 2015, where she played golf and was recognized as an avid and accomplished bridge player. She contributed annually to several charitable institutions that were meaningful to her, including Mystic Seaport, the University of Hartford, and several other non-profit hospitals and educational institutions.
Nancy will be remembered as an incredibly resilient spirit, whose bright smile and positive attitude lifted those around her. She battled Clear Cell Renal Cancer for the past 15 years with remarkable courage, grace, and composure, setting an enduring example of strength and dignity for her family and friends. Funeral services and arrangements will be announced later and are under the care of Mystic Funeral Home in Mystic, Connecticut. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Mystic Seaport Museum or to the University of Hartford.
