Born on March 12, 2006, in Albany, NY, Payton was the beloved daughter of Jared and Amy Cantanucci, and cherished big sister to Avery, Emerson, and Luca.
Payton was a third-year student at Florida State University, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Business, with aspirations to be in the yachting industry. She was an extremely hard worker, often holding multiple jobs while balancing the demands of school. Payton was a devoted member of Alpha Delta Pi, where she formed lasting friendships and treasured the bonds of sisterhood.
Payton embraced life with an adventurous spirit, boundless energy, and a contagious laugh. She loved being on Lake George or out on the ocean, fishing and boating, and had a special affection for manatees. She loved all animals and tried to foster them any chance she could. She enjoyed playing lacrosse, music and dancing, traveling, skiing, and perhaps most of all, being surrounded by the people she loved. Fiercely independent, confident, and wise beyond her years, Payton had an unmistakable light and incredible magnetism about her. She could brighten any room with her smile and make even the smallest moments memorable.
Payton had extraordinary friendships. She was incredibly loyal, deeply compassionate, and the kind of friend who made everyone feel seen, heard, and genuinely loved. She had a gift of seeing things in others that they could not see in themselves. She celebrated the people in her life, stood up for what she believed was right, and always wanted the very best for those around her. Payton’s friendships were not simply an important part of her life; they were a reflection of the generous heart with which she lived. The love and loyalty she inspired will remain with her friends always.
Above all, Payton cherished her family. She shared an exceptionally close bond with her parents, Jared and Amy, and was not only their beloved daughter but also a dear friend and confidante. As the oldest of four children, Payton was the consummate big sister to Avery, Emerson, and Luca. She was devoted to her grandparents Michael and Donna Lucey and Michael and Kimberly Cantanucci, as well as a large and loving extended family of Aunts, Uncles, and cousins, with whom she shared an extraordinary closeness. Their many celebrations, traditions, and time spent together were among her greatest treasures, and the bonds they shared will remain an enduring part of her legacy.
A service in honor of Payton’s life will be held on October 27th at 5:30 p.m. (receiving at 4:30 p.m.) at the First Naples Church at 3000 Orange Blossom Drive in Naples, FL.
