Even though he was born and raised in Chicago, IL he also lived in Hazel Crest, IL, Harvey, IL, Huntsville, AL, Titusville, FL, Columbia, SC and most recently in Naples, FL.
He was a graduate of Tilden Technical High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and went on to receive a Master’s of Business Administration degree at the University of Chicago.
For the past 75 years he has been happily married to Frances, nee Leveling, and they had been inseparable ever since. They were married on Christmas Day 1944 in Monterey, CA.
During World War 2 he served in the Navy helping on early versions of RADAR with the Western Electric Company. During his career as a Civil Engineer he had worked for the Whiting Corporation in Indiana, Boeing Corporation assisting with the Apollo space program in Florida. He finished the last 20 years of his career with the City of Chicago in the Public Works and Water Recollimation Departments.
He was a proud member of the American Legion, 40&8 Veterans Organization, Independent Order of Foresters and Order Sons of Italy in America.
He is survived by his wife Frances, nee Leveling, Children: Richard Nicholas (Barbara), Vincent (Carol), Michael (Betty), Terry (Doris), Catherine, Rena (Brian) Siscoe, Theresa Blank, 22 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great, Great Grandchild along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Proceeded in death by his father Nicola Radice, mother Anna, nee Pagliarulo, brother Gerard, sisters Marguerite Spizzirri and Doris Flanagan.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a great advocate for education helping many to further their education after they graduated high school. Even in death he continues to help educate future medical personnel by donating his body to the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami.
He will be remembered for his gracious nature and loving attitude. He will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
