His innovative approach helped modernize the mortgage process, setting new standards for efficiency and reliability. Building on that success, he later founded ValuAmerica, continuing his legacy of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Bobby’s love of sports led him to became one of Western Pennsylvania’s first golf entrepreneurs in 1989 when he purchased and transformed Fallen Timber Golf Course into Quicksilver Golf Club. Under his leadership, Quicksilver became a tournament‑caliber venue and a regional landmark. Bobby brought professional tournament golf to the area, hosting the Ben Hogan Tour, the Senior PGA Tour, several U.S. Open qualifiers, as well as the Tri‑State PGA Stableford. He had the distinguished honor of receiving the Tri-State Man of the Year award. He also brought professional basketball to Pittsburgh for one season with the Pittsburgh Piranhas.
Beyond his business ventures, Bobby made a lasting impact on the civic and educational communities in both Pittsburgh and SW Florida. He served as a Trustee at the University of Pittsburgh, where he endowed 2 significant scholarships- one in business and one in soccer. He was also a Trustee at the Canterbury School where he spearheaded the building of the Murphy Sports Center.
To those who knew him personally, he was a mentor, a confidant, and a source of steady encouragement. He generously shared his time and wisdom, helping countless colleagues and friends navigate their own paths. His presence filled every room, and his humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Bobby leaves behind a legacy defined by leadership, innovation, and love. He will be remembered with deep admiration, affection, and if he ever had a chance to go on Jeopardy, he would have won.
