
Evelyn Dora (Otte) Nagel, 82, of Ridgeville Township, passed away at the Lutheran Home of Napoleon on Thursday, December 11, 2014. She was born on July 23, 1932 to John H. and Dora (Sunderman) Otte, in Adams Twp. Evelyn was a 1951 graduate of Ridgeville High School, where she was honored to be class valedictorian. She married Delbert E. Nagel on June 23, 1963 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon Twp. A faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Twp., she served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Altar Guild, and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She also volunteered in the church office for many years. Evelyn worked as a clerk for La Choy Food Products from 1952 until her retirement in 1997. Evelyn enjoyed traveling and was a member of the St. John Senior Travel Group, and also a member of the German Lutheran Heritage Group of Northwest Ohio. Her greatest joy however, was being a homemaker, attending family activities, and providing care for her husband, Delbert.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of over 51 years, Delbert; children, Edwin (Hallie) Nagel of Perrysburg Township, and Sara (Craig) Rosenbeck of Irving, Texas; siblings, Hildegard (Lawrence) Behrmann, Edwin Otte, Lillian Otte, and John Otte; nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Marie Busch. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Wagner; infant brother and sister, Melvin and Marie Otte; and brother-in-law, James Busch.
Visitation will be held from 3p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home in Napoleon. Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church (Rts. 6 & 66) in Ridgeville Township, where Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the St. John Lutheran Bell Tower Fund, or the Ridgeville Twp. Volunteer Fire Department.
