

Helen E. Bechtol, 99, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at The Lutheran Home of Napoleon. She was born on July 19, 1912 in Richfield Township, Henry County, Ohio, the daughter of August and Mary (Cordes) Schlueter. On November 7, 1935, she married Kent F. Bechtol and he preceded her in death on
January 1, 1999.
She graduated from Florida Local School and attended Ford School of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Florida, Ohio, where she was active in church activities. She was a farmer’s wife, a long-time 4-H Advisor, and lent a good hand in her community as needed. She was an early employee of Chief Supermarkets in the Meat Department in Defiance and Napoleon. She later operated an Inn and served meals by reservation in her home outside Florida Village.
She is survived by a son, Lew Bechtol; a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Susan) Eustace; three grandchildren, Lew II, Laura, and Timothy; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Matthew; a daughter-in-law, Elnora Bechtol.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kent F. Bechtol; a son, Gary Bechtol; two brothers, Martin and Anton Schlueter; two sisters, Dorothy Jackman and Esther Clark.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, June 1, 2012 from
4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Snyder Wesche Funeral Home of Napoleon and on Saturday for one hour prior to services at the church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Florida, Ohio with Rev. Lee Genter, officiating. Burial will follow in the Florida Cemetery, Flordia, Ohio.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Florida United Methodist Church (P.E.T project, gift of mobility, c/o Dallas Andrew, Treasurer, 109 E. School Street, Napoleon, OH 43545); or to the Pastoral Services at The Lutheran Home of Napoleon.
