
Mildred “Elaine” Augenstein, 88, of Napoleon, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Vancrest Nursing Home in Holgate. She was born on August 2, 1926 to Samuel Melvin and Sylvia (Aufholz) Augenstein. Elaine worked as an operator and dispatcher for Sprint for more than 40 years. She had an abiding love of horses and dogs. She also enjoyed watching football. Elaine was well loved, and many friends and family will remember her wry sense of humor.
Elaine is survived by her brother, Mel Augenstein of Ocala, FL; nieces, Cindi (Terry) Smith, and Michelle (Randy) Drugacz; nephew, Jeff (Colleen) Augenstein; great-nieces, Christy and Breana; great-nephews, Shawn, Adam, Stephen, and Greg; great-great nieces, Jaina and Summerlyn; and dear friends, Vera Westrick and Jan Hoover. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, OH. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 23rd at the funeral home, Pastor Tom Polker officiating. According to Elaine’s wishes, In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Henry County Humane Society, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
