

Paul H. Panning, 88, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Lutheran Home of Napoleon. He was born on February 2, 1927 to Arthur and Emilia (Hoops) Panning. He was a longtime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon. Paul was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a life member and Post Commander of the Napoleon VFW, AmVets, and American Legion. Known as a hard worker, Paul was a former Napoleon City Schools bus driver, and also worked as a press operator at the former Gould Inc. now known as Tenneco. He married Dorothy A. Wozniak on June 11, 1955, and she preceded him in death in 2003.
Paul is survived by his daughters, Paula A. Panning (Joseph Chatell), and Christine (Greg) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Jason (Lindsay) Zimmerman, and Kathryn (Greg) Brown-Davis; and 3 great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy (Wozniak) Panning; sisters, Margaret Thatcher, Alma Koppenhofer, Louise Arps, and Martha Weidenroth.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 2pm to 8pm at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, Ohio. Visitation will continue at the mortuary on Friday, April 24 from 10am until the time of Funeral Services at 11am. Burial with military honors will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
