

Wilfred “Willie” Hesterman 87, of Napoleon passed away on Monday January 26, 2015 at The Alpine Village of Napoleon. He was born on May 8, 1927 to William and Magdalena (Gerken) Hesterman. He married Marilyn Dorner on August 15, 1953.
Willie served his country in the U.S. Army at the end of WWII. Afterwards, Willie attended BGSU. He worked in sales for Rohn Agricultural Products and Fort Recovery Equipment Inc. In 1983 he was appointed Deputy Registrar of Henry County. He retired in 1998. He then worked at Walker Mortuary in Napoleon until 2012.
Willie was a lifelong member, Elder and Treasurer of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a very active member of the community. Willie served as President and Secretary of the Napoleon Lions Club, a Grand Marshall of the Henry County Fair, Chairman of the Henry County Democratic Party (16 years) as well as Vice Chairman (4 years). He served as a Delegate to the 1976 Democratic National Convention. Willie served as a Napoleon City Councilman, a member of the Board of Public Affairs and as Secretary/Treasurer of the Henry County Bowling Association. He also was a life member of Bert G. Taylor Post #300 of the American Legion, the Arthur Peterson AMVETS Post #1313 and the Luther Kolbe V.F.W. Post #8218.
Willie also volunteered his time coaching his sons’ little league team and was an avid golfer and bowler.
Willie is survived by his sons Jim (Jennifer) Hesterman and Mike (Katie) Hesterman; his grandchildren, Josh, Eric, Nick, Caroline and Teddy and his great-grandson Nathan. He is also survived by his brother, Ron Hesterman.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn and brother Arthur Hesterman.
Visitation for Willie will be held on Thursday January 29, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary 333 W. Main St. Napoleon Ohio. Funeral Services in honor of Willie will be held on Friday January 30, 2015 starting at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1075 Glenwood Ave, Napoleon Ohio. Pastor Marcis and Pastor Kramer will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens where Military Honors will be accorded by the joint Veterans post of Napoleon. Donations are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Building Fund, Hospice of SouthernCare or a Charity of the donor’s choice.
