Elsy Velazquez was born on January 6, 1948, to Ignacio Velazquez and Parmenia Del Castillo in Santiago Cuba, she was one of 11 children. She was a student of poetry, music, and art. She was a daughter, sister, teacher, wife and mother. She was loved by all that met her. Her infectious laughter could capture the hearts of children and adults alike. She carried with her a depth of wisdom and intelligence that came from a profound understanding of the world around her. She gave of herself generously and asked for nothing in return.
She cared for her parents, as a daughter should. She respected her older siblings and cared for the younger, as a sister should. She gave her all to her husband, as a wife should. For her sons she gave her eternal love, as a mother should.
Elsy passed on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. She leaves behind her sons Saul Alexander and George Ignacio. She will be missed, she will be remembered, the world is a lesser place without her in it.
